How do I make my own Wallpaper?

Sizes:
If you make your wallpaper suitable for the largest monitor resolutions, then it can also be shrunk down to size for the smaller resolutions. Whereas if you create it for the smaller resolutions, it will lose detail if you attempt to enlarge it.

Large Resolution: 3200 x 1200
Standard Resolution: 2560 x 1024
Small Resolution: 2048 x 768

Software:
You can use any image editing software you wish to create your wallpaper. The more recommended ones would be Adobe Photoshop or JASC Paint Shop Pro. These offer more tools and options for your images. You can always use MS Paint if you want though =]

File Format:
Preferably your wallpaper should be stored in the JPEG format. If your wallpaper consists of a small amount of colours and no photos then it may be best to store it in the GIF format. If you are unsure though, stick to the JPEG format.

how do it By Unknown on Jun 22 2006 at 8:28 AM
how do i make it so that when i set up the wallpaper it spans across both screen because right now all it does it but the same thing on both screens
the solution By Unknown on Jun 23 2006 at 1:48 PM
if you want one image to stretch accross two screens then you first need a high resolution image that will fill the resolutions of both monitors; then change the position option to tile instead of center or stretch. that should stretch it accross both screens
Further clearafacation on setting a dual monitor wallpaper so that it spans your screens. By Unknown on Aug 24 2006 at 6:06 AM
For this to look right you really should have both monitors set to the same resolution. For example if each monitor is set to 1280 x 1024 then your dual monitor wallpaper needs to be 2560 x 1024 if you have a wallpaper that is too big or small resize it to the dual monitor resolution. Now set the image as your wallpaper and set the mode to tile. This makes the image fill both monitors. You can even combine two images side by side into one and emulate having two separate wallpapers.

Thanks! By Unknown on Apr 08 2007 at 12:29 PM
This was extremely helpful and allowed me to create a single wallpaper that spanned both of my beautiful 22 inch 1680 x 1050 monitors! (That were only 500 bucks shipped!)
hmmm By Unknown on May 01 2007 at 3:01 AM
When i use the tile option it works but now the wallpaper doesnt join. its like the middle of the wallpapers are on the other side of the wallpaper. Im left with a stretched wallpaper but the middle is on the left and right of the monitors :S:S
Workaround By Unknown on May 15 2007 at 3:26 AM
Use MS Paint and select the left half of the picture (S:S). Flip the left half of the picture by using menu bar: Image > Flip/Rotate > Flip horizontal. Repeat it for the right half of the picture (S:S). Save and this workaround should resolve the problem.
DUAL MONITORS By Unknown on May 20 2007 at 9:11 AM
IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE DIFFERENT WALLPAPER ON EACH MONITOR AND IF SO THAN HOW CAN IT BE DONE
yes you can do different images on dual monitors... By Unknown on Jun 15 2007 at 6:26 AM
Actually, there IS a way to use two images as backgrounds in Windows XP.

Right click on your desktop and select Properties.
In the Dekstop tab, click Customize Desktop.
In the Web tab, click New.
In the New Desktop Item window, click Browse.
Browse to the image, select it and click OK.
Click OK all the way out of Display Properties.

The image will now be floating on your desktop (under all windows).
If you position your mouse towards the top of the image, you can drag, move and resize it. Just drag it to your other monitor, and click the maximize button to make it fit the screen! Much easier the slicing and dicing!
nView By Unknown on Jul 24 2007 at 2:09 AM
If you have a NVIDIA graphics card, download Forceware according to your card and install. Bundled in Foreware is nView which will let you enable dual desktops, triple desktops, switching to the desktops, wallpaper and more.

Twin screen slide show? By Unknown on Oct 17 2007 at 4:45 AM
Anyone come across any software which will do a slide show using BOTH screens together?

Everything I have tried so far defaults to just using the primary screen only for slide shows - even though they will quite happly use both screens for the rest of their activities
(Microsoft's own viewer, Arcsoft Panorama Viewer, MGI Photosuite, Adobe Photoshop, FastStone Image viewer and so on)

Any tips much appreciated, Regards, Steve P
