What do I need to Get Started?

Hardware:
To setup your own dual screens, you will need either a dual-head graphics/video card, or 2 seperate graphics/video cards. Perferably it is easier to purchase a dual-head card, as it also frees up more room on your motherboard and does not require a seperate port for each.

And more obviously you will need two or more monitors! If you are unsure of which sort of monitor to purchase you can visit the LCD vs CRT monitor tutorial. Your monitor should come with all the leads/cables you will need also, these do not need to be purchased seperately.

Software:
In most cases your basic operating system will have support for a dual screen setup. Microsoft Windows XP makes it very easy to setup to dual monitors. There is also additional software you can use to enhance your dual screen experience. These range from an extended taskbar to rotating wallpaper software. Visit the Dual Screen Software page for more details.
